Lowell Zelenka is a transgender fibers artist with a multidisciplinary practice, mostly focusing in soft sculpture, weaving, quilting, and garment-making. He grew up in Chicago and is currently based in Baltimore. Lowell attended MICA for undergraduate studies and received a BFA in Fiber. His art centers around his relationship with mental health and technology, and how the two become intertwined. He was born in 1999, just before Y2K, so technology has always been at his side - for better or for worse. He explores how growing up alongside rapid technological advancements has impacted how he views himself and the world around him. Lowell also has an interest in activism and social justice, which shines through his work.
